This is business. It is not playtime.

You might be surprised by the number of people who complain that they do not make any significant income from their AdSense campaigns. When we ask them how many markets they're in or how many domains they have, their answer is usually 10 or 15 markets, and only 1 or 2 domains per market.
Here is another truth that many people do not want to face head-on. You cannot make any money with AdSense unless you are in a lot of markets. And within those many markets, you must have many websites if you want to really penetrate your niche market and make the most profits from that market. In today’s world, you need to have a lot of smaller sites.

So how can you do all of that?

Well, you cannot, unless you first address some important issues. In order for you to accomplish all this work, you need three things:

1) Procedures
2) Achievable Goals
3) Help

PROCEDURES: As mentioned above, in order for you to maximize your profits and exposure, you must have a lot of websites working for you. With that being the case, you need to have some system of generating a lot of websites and be able to get those sites up and running in as quick a fashion as possible. So how about an assembly line metaphor? Let’s assume you want to get into 20 markets. One way to do this would be for you to do the keyword research for all 20 markets. Then purchase your domain names. Then setup your hosting accounts. And lastly build and upload your web pages. Your procedure, in this case, allows you to work in a systematic, organized way which is much more efficient than attempting to build each site, one at a time,
and one domain at a time.

ACHEIVEABLE GOALS: Anyone who is self-employed, either full time or part time, understands the importance of setting realistic goals and then achieving those goals. You need to set daily, weekly, and monthly goals to keep yourself on track and give yourself a clear picture of where you are and where you want to go.
Your goal list is your roadmap to success. However, each goal that you set for yourself must be achievable. Do not set your goals so high that failure is almost assured. That sort of action will kill your selfconfidence
and cause you to lose faith in your work. If you are just getting started out, you might set a monthly goal of 10 markets, with 3 domains per market.
Is that too much?
How about starting with 5 markets with 2 domains per market?
You would then set weekly and daily goals to ensure that you meet (and even exceed) the goals you set.
Without goals you can't keep score, and if you can't keep score you don't know if you're winning or losing in business, or in life, for that matter.

HELP: The last element that is vital to your success is help. In order for all the work to get done, you will need to outsource as much as possible.
This is vital. You must understand why outsourcing is so important. Your mission is to perform a task only until you know it well enough to teach someone else how to do it. The faster you can duplicate yourself, the faster you
can expand your business as you focus on the most profitable actions that need to be taken. For this to work, you have to be management, not grunt. Our entire page generation business is 100% outsourced. We have one person who selects my markets, another does the keyword research for those markets, and yet another who actually builds and manages all my pages. This frees us up to concentrate on the markets that are truly profitable. It allows us the time and the mental space to think through our next move. That freedom to think would be greatly diminished if we had to spend the majority of our time doing work that others can do just as well, and, in some cases, better than us.

How TO add Google sitemap to blogger.com

You can now add Google sitemap to your blogger.com account and increase your chances of being indexed in Google search engine result. You can add a Sitemap to your account to give Google more information about the pages in your site to help Google crawl them more effectively.

Step # 1: Login to sitemap account
At the top of screen you will see option to add site. Just paste URL of your blog (for example http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/)

Step # 2: Now you need to verify your ownership of blog to view detailed statistics. Click on verify link. Google offers two methods of verification. You can either upload an HTML file with a name we specify (which is not possible with Google Blogger account), or you can add a META tag to your site's index file. Adding META tag via template code is possible so just select Add a META tag from drop down menu:

It will generate code for you, copy the meta tag and paste it into your blogger.com template section).

Step # 3: Go to your blogger.com and login to your account. Goto your blog > Click on Template
Paste the META tag code after section:

Click on Save Template changes button
Click on Republish Index only button > Wait for few seconds so that your blog being published successfully.

Step # 4: Now goto sitemap account and click the box that read as follows:
I've added the META tag in the home page of http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/. Click on Verify button.

Step # 5: Now your site is added to sitemap account and verification is done. Next you need to add actual sitemap url. Since blogger.com account donĂ¢€™t allow you to create a text file or anything else you need to add your site feed (ATOM xml) file as a site map. Click on add a sitemap link:

Step # 6: You can add a Sitemap to your account to provide Google additional information about about your blog. Google will process your Sitemap and provide information on any errors in the Sitemaps tab as well your sitemap will be downloaded everyday to index your blog fast.
Select type as : Add General Web sitemap
Now you need to add Atom 0.3 feeds. Generally, you would use this format only if your site already has a syndication feed and this is the only way to add sitemap to your blogger.com account.
Paste url of your Atom feed: For example http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/atom.xml and click on Add Web sitemap:
Update: If you are using a new blogger beta system, use http://yourblogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/full as a feed url.

You will get confirmation:
You have added a Sitemap to http://cyberciti.blogspot.com/. Reports may take several hours to update. Thank you for your patience!
And you are done and your blog will be now index very fast (depend upon your posting and content).

Why Is Social Bookmarking the Most Popular Online Marketing Tool?

The question you should ask yourself is how can you use social bookmarking to help you in internet marketing?

Can you use this area of the web to your advantage?

The truth is that such social bookmarking websites are now seen as the place to go for the most recent information. Social bookmarking sites rank very highly in search engines thanks to their ever updated content. Forgetting everything else about these sites, their high search engine rankings are reason alone to see the potential of these sites in relevance to your buisness. Enabling you to expand your visitor base via word of mouth advertising, their links to your site when correctly put up are able to spread virally to alternate sites. In the current article, we explore the numerous advantages to be had with social bookmarking and the ways that it is able to assist you in your efforts.

One great opportunity with social bookmarking is the ability to create your own brand. This is an amazing opportunity for you to create an effective social bookmarking campaign, get traffic and get recognized in your niche market. Most of the social bookmarking sites out there, such as Stumbleupon give you an easy opportunity to have your own page on their web property.

This is a great place to publish a list of all the web pages you have, links to your sites, and even publish content. This is a great example of social bookmarking giving you an opportunity to do something you would not get with some other marketing techniques. You show yourself as adept in your own field, as well as create targeted backlinks, when you submit pages. Your niche audience will consider you to be an authority to be listened to and trusted.

Google gives preference to these profile pages, and they seem to earn a high page rank. This will help you become well seen in a niche market. You will be added by other people which in turn will allow you access to their networks and open up even more opportunities to create traffic.

Social bookmarking also provides exposure on the Internet that will drive traffic to your site. The bookmarks do not stay on the social bookmarking site, but are also spread throughout the World Wide Web. Because bookmarks turn out to be viral in concept, if your content is valuable enough to share, do not be shocked when it spreads like the plague. It can give you the chance to dominate your niche and surpass your competitors in a very short amount of time. Persons have witnessed a huge boost of visitors coming to their website in literally one day; thousands of people who like your information drop by to purchase products or services. What an advantage that is! The only way to make that happen is to utilize social bookmarking.

Social bookmarking has existed for a while now. There are software tools that you can use to simplify the process, or you can do it manually with a lot of hard labor involved. No matter which method you use, the marketer can get huge results using this method. Your patience and dedication will truly benefit your business.

Link Building As An Effective Internet Marketing Strategy

People these days search for products and services online. The search engine ranking for your site should be such that a lot of visitors come searching for the content of your site. There is no better place to search for products and services like Google, Yahoo or MSN which majority of the people make use of. The very first pages must get a listing of your website on the search engines. There are many methods in force to make your website get to the top of the search engines. With the advent of computers, it has become very important to advertise your product properly and build links to other sites to gain popularity. Link building is a sure shot way to dominate search engines. The web world must recognize your website with the kind of marketing and sales activities that you undertake. Press release has also become important to improve the branding of any site and increasing the number of visitors to a particular site. You can make use of the press releases inorder to make your products and services known to a large set of people. When a press release is chalked out well it will create a lot of visibility to your website. Thus, there are many press release submission service providers who write and submit your press releases to tens of press release portals to give your business the global visibility.

Nothing can give the best rankings on the search engines to your site other than SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It basically provides the site with certain keywords which helps the site to be at the top in the search result. The website is made pleasing by adding and deleting certain elements present on the site by these service providers. A majority of the public searches with the help of certain key phrases for the information on the internet. Therefore you should keep track of the needs of the people. A proper selection of the keywords is important to target those people who need related information. There are so many organizations offering the SEO services online. Get the SEO services availed from a economical company so that you have maximum revenue.

Another important element provided by SEO services is website content. Your website should exhibit only information related to your business. You must use a responsive search engine.

The only three things that can give you maximum visitors and profits is link building, press release submission and SEO.

10 Ways to Get Banned by the Search Engines

Author: Terri Seymour

When you build your website, you, of course, want to get high rankings in the search engines. There are lots of ways to do this and lots of ways to NOT do this. Below are 10 things to avoid if you want to be in good standing with the search engines.

1. Duplicate Content/Sites – Do not set up multiple sites or site pages using basically the same content with a few different keywords spread around. This does not fool the search engines.

2. Cloaking – Cloaking is when a website or webpage is set up to show different content for a search engine spider than the human visitors. The cloaked page (for the spiders) is stuffed with keywords in an attempt to get higher rankings. What it can get you is banned!

3. Linking to Bad Neighborhoods – Be careful who you link to because you can be found guilty by association. Do not link to adult sites, gambling sites or link farms. Also be careful not to link to sites that use any of the SEO methods mentioned here.

4. Title Stacking – This is simply trying to give each page more than one title tag so you can use more keywords to get higher rankings. The search engines consider this a dirty little trick.

5. Doorway Pages – Doorway or gateway pages are pages that are set-up for one keyword topic but then they take you to different content. These pages usually have little value in the way of content and have little to do with the rest of the site. They are used solely to try to get a higher rank in the search engines.

6. Redirect Pages – Redirect pages are set up to rank high in the search engines but when you click on the page, it will take you to another page which is usually a sales page for a product or service. So, what you see isn’t what you get!

7. Automated Submission Services - Do not use automated submission services. They are against Google’s TOS and can get you banned.

8. Hidden Links – This is when a link is added to a page in such a small size that it cannot be seen by human visitors but can be picked up by the search engine spiders. This might work for a time but when the search engines discover it, you will be penalized!

9. Keyword Stuffing – Keyword stuffing or spamming is simply being too repetitive with your keywords as to the extent of your content not being sensible. For example if your keywords are cat food and your text reads something like this: When your cat gets hungry be sure to feed them this cat food because your cat will like this cat food. This cat food comes in an easy to open cat food can and contains fish, chicken and healthy ingredients that all cat food should have. So, when your cat is hungry for cat food, give them this cat food because this cat food is the best cat food for your cat!

You can easily see why this kind of keyword stuffing should not be used.

10. Invisible Text – This is when you hide text by using the same color text and background. The invisible text is meant for the search engines only and not for visitors. This is done so you can stuff a lot more keywords on your page without wrecking your content. The search engines will discover this and they will penalize you!

Be careful not to use these Black Hat SEO methods because it could cause you a lot of trouble with the search engines. Be careful as well, who you hire to work on your site because some of these things can be done without your knowledge and cause your site to get banned or penalized.

A few things you should do to get higher rankings are:
1. Research keywords and use relevant keywords on your web pages and in your page title.
2. Add new content to your site regularly
3. Link with relevant, quality sites
4. Use a site map
5. Don’t use a lot of javascript or flash. The search engines do not read these.

Following all of the above can keep you from getting banned and improve your rankings!

When Marketing Online, How To Use Keywords To Grow Your Internet Home Business

by: Chris Swope

1.) The Basics

If you're new to marketing online, or are just starting an internet home business, let's start at the beginning and start with a definition on what a keyword is. A keyword is a word or group of words that most closely relates to what you're writing about on a blog, a website, or any other type of online media.

If a reader is searching for an article about internet home business, what ever they are reading should have the actual words "internet home business" throughout the piece. It's a way for the reader know without a question of doubt that they are reading the correct piece.

Think about it, if you were looking for an article about the New York Yankees, but the piece you were reading did not use the words New York Yankees anywhere, how would you ever know you were reading the right info?

2.) But Who Else Knows About Our Keywords?

The BIG DADDY Search Engine. Not only do we want our page reader to know what what they are reading by noticing the keywords, but we want the search engines to see our keywords too. Why? Because people will never find your website, blog, article, or press release unless they know the actual web address. Most people don't know what web address is before they end up on a page, they end up on a page after doing a search for what they are looking for.

So Google, Yahoo, Bing, and any other search engine has the capability of scanning the web to find what webpages they will return as a choice to the searcher. If you envision the internet as a large spiderweb, connecting millions of computers (the 'world wide web"), then imagine several spiders crawling all over the web checking out each computer on it.

When you want a search engine spider to "find" your computer, your website, article, blog, etc, then you need to have keywords on each piece of content. Here's an example: Sue types in the words internet home business into Google. She is looking for info that I have here in my article. I need to have the words internet home business appear so that Sue will find my content.

3.) How Many, and Where?

Let's start with where first. Definitely in the title, and in the first 2 sentences. Then sprinkle the keyword into the piece as it naturally would occur several more times, about once every other paragraph is good.

In terms of how many, I mean how many words together should make up a keyword. One word is usually too broad and not descriptive enough. For example the word 'business' is to broad. 2 words, 'home business' is a little better, and narrows down the subject more. 3 words, 'internet home business' is BETTER yet. You'll have less competition and it is even more targeted. 4 words, "internet home business ideas" is even MORE targeted.

1-2 keywords are called short-tail keywords, 3-4 are called money-tail, and 5+ words are called long-tail. Stay in the money-tail range and you'll be in the money!

Why we should subscribe to other blogs?

Author: Anil Gupta

Have you ever thought, why we subscribe our favorite blog RSS into our email accounts and RSS Readers? Don’t know the answer; keep on reading what I have to say on it. As far as I’m concerned, I had subscribed to 100’s of blog in my blog niche and here are some of my motives solved due to that:

1. By subscribing to top blogs in my industry, I stay updated with all latest happenings and bloggers reaction.

2. By subscribing to them, all of their latest posts are accessible to me in my account. So I’m can keep track of what is being covered by various bloggers in my niche recently.

3. By looking at some of latest posts into my RSS Readers and email accounts, I’m actually go to the actual posts that really interest me and leave some comments of mine there. So this helps me to get some valuable links, readers and traffic to my blog.

4. When we spend some time going though our favorite blogs, it gives us idea about drafting our next blog post on many occasions.

5. When we go through the latest blog posts from our favorite blogs, can submit them on some of social networks where we are active like on our Twitter account, Facebook account or on some social Bookmarking websites like Digg, delicious, Reddit etc.

6. On some occasions, we may link to some of blog posts written by other blogs when creating a new post for our blogs if linking to those blogs adds more value to our post. Suppose, I’m writing a post about how to use Yahoo Buzz, then people will also be interested in knowing how to add Yahoo Buzz buttons in our blogger and wordpress blogs. So if any blogger has written a manual about adding Yahoo Buzz buttons to Blogger and Wordpress blog, you can include links to those pages for adding more value in your post.

7. There must be some blogs in your niche whom you are competing with. By subscribing their RSS, you can stay updated with the amount of content they are placing on their website so that you can plan your content strategy accordingly.

Anil Gupta writes about lots of interesting topics like Sponsored-Reviews, Google backlinks and how to promote facebook fan page on his Scopeformoney.com blog.

How to promote your blog

Regardless of the reasons for which you have created a blog, it can become a success only if you know how to promote it: in other words, you have to attract traffic. There are several ways to do so, depending on what you aim at with your blog; first of all, you need to get a look on the web and see what the competition is like. Blogging is something you learn and improve as you acquire more experience; actually we could say there are no boundaries related to the possibility to promote something online. The best help you can get is from domains related to yours, by the use of friendly links.

Once you've got the pages ready don't hesitate to have links to your blog posted on other sites, which you may have to do the same in exchange to help others. Nevertheless, it is good to mention here that you must pay attention to the web page quality to make sure that you don't promote something that contradicts your principles. Then, you should probably know that there are all sorts of blog directories where you may submit your pages so that you make it more easily accessible. Generally such sites require a description of your blog, and it is here that you need to show your skills.

In case you have to describe the blog as clearly as possible, try to focus on the general topic and aim of the blog. The title you include here will be part of a category that you must select very carefully, so that it reflects your intention completely. This introductory part should not be too long, though you'll have to include some descriptive details and high-in-demand keywords. If you manage to do all these insertions correctly, then you can expect to get great traffic to the blog.

When you are new in the blogging world, you have to let people know that you're available with great subjects, pictures, articles, products and anything else specific to your field. The best way to spread the news about your blog is to write press releases and submit them to free directories; statistics show that many bloggers chose this promotion method as it is the most profitable in terms of attracting friendly links and good positions in search engine rankings. Forum postings are also great to be used in parallel with press release listings, and results should not be late to appear right away.

How To Create Backlinks for Your Blog or Website

This article provides in depth analysis on how to search and compare backlinks from sites in similar target markets and keywords, learn where they are backlinking to and trying to get your own sites additional backlinks. The post talks about using the SEO for Firefox plugin to assist you with your hunt for tracing backlinks and eventually leading to you promoting your site/content to get additional backlinks.

This is a fantastic method to combine with leaving blog comments on blogs, forums and other sites and combining both methods of leaving breadcrumbs or getting direct links can help increase both your PageRank and Google Search engine results.

I highly recommend you read the article above, I am specifically not pointing out to much content from it because I want my readers to read it. It sells nothing and just has some great steps you could follow to help promote your site. Remember when requesting links on other sites to leverage “keywords” as the link instead of just the site name itself. If you want to place better in Google Search Engines you need to have your “keywords” that you want to try and capitalize on be your site link.

How To Construct Links Step by Step

Linking your website to others will help gain you attention and will improve your appeal to the search engine spiders. While it may seem that linking to other sites is a simple process many companies struggle with building the quality links that they need for a successful website. The following are the three best ways to build links for your website.

Building relationships online is absolutely the best way to develop partnerships that can lead to fruitful link exchanges. In the beginning it is critical that you start with those businesses that you already have a working relationship with. Doing this will make it easier for you to approach them and ask them to engage in a link exchange; if the business already knows of your reputation then the situation shouldn't be as awkward as it could be.

If you are a startup business chances are your contact list is rather short. A quality link exchange program can vastly improve your contact base and invariably lead to enhanced customer traffic to your site. It should come as no surprise there are sites out there devoted to link exchanges. They are the "facebooks" of the business world and allow for businesses to get to know each other; once they establish a relationship then the process of link sharing can begin. These forums are a very easy way to develop the contacts needed to foster a linkage exchange.

In the 21st Century many businesses, if not all businesses have some online component to their overall model. The Chamber of Commerce is cognizant of this fact and has reached out those businesses whose models are almost exclusively online. Joining the Chamber is a beneficial way to establish vital contacts throughout the business community and a way to forge those relationships that will allow you to place an external link on your company's site.

There are many ways to develop relationships and engage in a link exchange. However, these are the three simplest. You can always pay someone to build the links for you; however you need to be careful as this industry is prone to scammers that simply want your money. In the end there can be no substitute for experience and you may be better off attempting to build your own links rather than pay someone for them

If you decide to buy text links it is crucial to use a quality company. Understanding the process of the text link ads will help you to get things going properly

ViralURL Review - Is This List Builder A Waste Of Time?

ViralURL is the preferred choice list builder for numerous leading internet marketers, although the big question that must be answered is will this list builder really work for you? Today's review identifies what benefits "if any" will have on your business

ViralURL is a system which allows you to send out 3000 emails of your choice with the click of one button. The system was created by Frank Bauer and Colin Klinkert in 2001 and was specifically planned for marketers to form a list of associates who will develop into paying customers or representatives. Knowledgeable marketers often use online tools like opt in web pages which means prospects have a position to enter their email address when enquirying about additional info on the product/service. ViralURL does the demanding work of sending all the emails, your responsibility is to just ensure you create compelling emails which stand out and encourage the reader by clicking onto your website and opting in you can then provide enormous value to their business. For lots of marketers this strategy really does work and they are able to receive lots of leads with each mail out. Many marketers have so much success with ViralURL that they even have multiple accounts sending over 18000 emails each week.

Every person who receives an email from you has previously agreed to the emailing terms with their membership so cannot be considered as spam. ViralURL has in excess of 70000 members and rising every day. Membership can range from free to platinum which comes with varying benefits. The free package allows you to build up credits which can be exchanged for emails. Each time you receive emails from others within the ViralURL society pressing their links will build up the credits for you. To be totally honest using this option can be very time consuming, annoying and you do not get the true benefit that the system has to offer (speaking from experience). The actual value is in the $197 12 month gold upgrade. This allows you to sit back and click away mailing thousands of emails at a time.

I'm sure you have heard of the slogan "the money is in the list", this is a exceptionally correct statement and with ViralURL you can achieve list growth at a rate of which you possibly will have not experienced previously. After using this system for quite some time I have found this to be a very positive tool, the quality of leads you get are commonly people who are already marketers generally in search of solutions to whatever problems they may face, this means the people you associate with are prompt to take action if you have the correct offer.

ViralURL also has a URL cloaking alternative which is used to basically shorten and/or disguise your URL’s in order for it not look like an affiliate link. Countless marketers online get promotional emails on a daily basis with sales pitches trying to get the reader to click on their affiliate associations, cloaking is one way to disguise the link. This frequently increases the probability of somebody clicking the link.

Lastly is ViralURL going to be of any benefit to your business? YES, sending over 6000 emails a week will definately have people queuing to view your offer. Thousands and thousands of people worldwide will see your content which will help you drive traffic to wherever you require. Give Them a KISS Ad, or Traffic Exchange Programs - Ideas

I like traffic exchange programs! But you probably already knew that if you read my first article about this theme: Traffic Exchange Programs Are they worth your time?.

Why do you like them?, you might ask. They are not the most effective way of advertising, they are not all quite cheat proof and they sure are not very targeted; 3 mayor flaws they share with most other types of free advertising. And yes, that's all very true, BUT traffic exchange programs are free (mostly), you can do things to make them more effective and what if your target group is prone to use traffic exchange programs as well and it fits your business strategy? What if you are a beginner and you just need to start somewhere? What if you have a new site that just needs some initial traffic?

Of course your strategy should not be entirely build upon the use of traffic exchange programs, but if you have the time, why not take some advantage of them? Use a multi page browser, take heed of the following advise and if you enjoy surfing, these programs are right for you!

Strategic considerations

Questions you should ask yourself are: What is your business strategy? What is your target group?

A good strategy for beginners is to try to sell high ticket products in a niche market. The efforts and costs of selling a high ticket product are quite the same as trying to sell a low ticket, cheap product, so why not start with high ticket products? If this is your strategy, you would be wasting your time with traffic exchange programs.

I believe that most people that are surfing these programs are not interested in this kind of products. They are more likely interested in low ticket products and free offers. They are most likely interested in marketing tools (auto responders and such), free traffic, downline builders, new opportunities and programs.

My business strategy is largely build around getting downlines and targeted at people with lots of time but who are not willing to invest a lot of money. This is a very slow and long term strategy and does not involve a lot of actual selling. Traffic exchange programs are a good place to start recruiting. People who surf these programs expect to see ads for new opportunities and programs, downline builders, free ebooks, tools etc.

Normally I do not promote the idea of using your home page for traffic exchange programs or to use auto surf programs, but there are exceptions. When you have a new site and want some initial traffic, sign up for a few programs and benefit from the start bonuses. When you have a new page (offer) or site and you are not interested in Page Rank, you could use auto surf programs to get your ticker starting and get some traffic (but never do this with your main site!).

How long do you need to surf?

How much do you need to surf for credits? Well, there are people saying that you need to surf at least one hour per day! That would be the people who are in your upline I suppose. Actually, I do not have a recommendation for the time you should spend, that's totally up to you, but can I tell you how I do it? At this very moment, writing this article, I have 4 programs running and I am playing a bit of solitaire. Point is that I am running a special offer at this moment and I need some extra credits, so when I stop writing for a while, I continue surfing for credits.
Mostly I surf when I feel like it and have no other urgent matters at hand. Or when I am doing something and need something else to distract me for a little while or when I need some fresh ideas. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that''s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.

Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers.

These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called "traction", which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers.

Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth. Top 10 Tips

10. Write at least five major "pillar" articles. A pillar article is usually a tutorial style article aimed to teach your audience something. Generally they are longer than 500 words and have lots of very practical tips or advice.

This article you are currently reading could be considered a pillar article since it is very practical and a good "how-to" lesson. This style of article has long term appeal, stays current (it isn''t news or time dependent) and offers real value and insight.

The more pillars you have on your blog the better.

9. Write one new blog post per day minimum.

Not every post has to be a pillar, but you should work on getting those five pillars done at the same time as you keep your blog fresh with a daily news or short article style post. The important thing here is to demonstrate to first time visitors that your blog is updated all the time so they feel that if they come back tomorrow they will likely find something new.

This causes them to bookmark your site or subscribe to your blog feed. You don''t have to produce one post per day all the time but it is important you do when your blog is brand new.

Once you get traction you still need to keep the fresh content coming but your loyal audience will be more forgiving if you slow down to a few per week instead. The first few months are critical so the more content you can produce at this time the better.

8. Use a proper domain name. If you are serious about blogging be serious about what you call your blog. In order for people to easily spread the word about your blog you need an easily rememberable domain name.

People often talk about blogs they like when they are speaking to friends in the real world (that''s the offline world, you remember that place right?) so you need to make it easy for them to spread the word and pass on your URL.

Try and get a .com if you can and focus on small easy to remember domains rather than worry about having the correct keywords (of course if you can get great keywords and easy to remember then you''ve done a good job!).

7. Start commenting on other blogs. Once you have your pillar articles and your daily fresh smaller articles your blog is ready to be exposed to the world. One of the best ways to find the right type of reader for your blog is to comment on other people''s blogs.

You should aim to comment on blogs focused on a similar niche topic to yours since the readers there will be more likely to be interested in your blog.

Most blog commenting systems allow you to have your name/title linked to your blog when you leave a comment. This is how people find your blog. If you are a prolific commentor and always have something valuable to say then people will be interested to read more of your work and hence click through to visit your blog.

6. Trackback and link to other blogs in your blog posts. A trackback is sort of like a blog conversation. When you write a new article to your blog and it links or references another blogger''s article you can do a trackback to their entry.

What this does is leave a truncated summary of your blog post on their blog entry - it''s sort of like your blog telling someone else''s blog that you wrote an article mentioning them. Trackbacks often appear like comments.

This is a good technique because like leaving comments a trackback leaves a link from another blog back to yours for readers to follow, but it also does something very important - it gets the attention of another blogger.

The other blogger will come and read your post eager to see what you wrote about them. They may then become a loyal reader of yours or at least monitor you and if you are lucky some time down the road they may do a post linking to your blog bringing in more new readers.

5. Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about.

To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

4. Submit your latest pillar article to a blog carnival. A blog carnival is a post in a blog that summarizes a collection of articles from many different blogs on a specific topic. The idea is to collect some of the best content on a topic in a given week. Often many other blogs link back to a carnival host and as such the people that have articles featured in the carnival enjoy a spike in new readers.

To find the right blog carnival for your blog, do a search at http://blogcarnival.com/.

3. Submit your blog to blogtopsites.com. To be honest this tip is not going to bring in a flood of new readers but it''s so easy to do and only takes five minutes so it''s worth the effort. Go to Blog Top Sites, find the appropriate category for your blog and submit it.

You have to copy and paste a couple of lines of code on to your blog so you can rank and then sit back and watch the traffic come in. You will probably only get 1-10 incoming readers per day with this technique but over time it can build up as you climb the rankings. It all helps!

2. Submit your articles to ArticleBase.com. This is another tip that doesn''t bring in hundreds of new visitors immediately (although it can if you keep doing it) but it''s worthwhile because you simply leverage what you already have - your pillar articles. Once a week or so take one of your pillar articles and submit it to ArticleBase.com.

Your article then becomes available to other people who can republish your article on their website or in their newsletter. How you benefit is through what is called your "Resource Box".

You create your own resource box which is like a signature file where you include one to two sentences and link back to your website (or blog in this case). Anyone who publishes your article has to include your resource box so you get incoming links. If someone with a large newsletter publishes your article you can get a lot of new readers at once.

1. Write more pillar articles. Everything you do above will help you to find blog readers however all of the techniques I''ve listed only work when you have strong pillars in place. Without them if you do everything above you may bring in readers but they won''t stay or bother to come back.

Aim for one solid pillar article per week and by the end of the year you will have a database of over 50 fantastic feature articles that will work hard for you to bring in more and more readers.
